The Line Up
Its an exciting line up including two primary school bands, two secondary school bands, and four open aged bands in a variety of genres.
Kicking off the show is Malia Stirling Band. Combining powerfully sweet vocals with folk pop jangle and a solid, danceable rhythm section, Malia’s original melodies shine.
Krashendo are a school aged band with a respectable number of gigs under their belt. From the Rockskool’s stable, the four piece front up to deliver powerful and polished performances through popular and classic rock.
Next up, local hero Aspy Jones brings his full band to the stage. It’s an experience you will want to see, as Ethan and the boys are only getting better with their infectious acoustic pop blend with bold and brassy hooks.
Debuting at Band Showdown are school aged band, Caramel. As the name suggests, they are smooth and sweet, but the funky laidback hip hop jazz grooves are surprisingly salty for a young band.
Younger still are Mr Percival, the next to take the stage. These talented primary school players dish up some tasty country rock under the tutelage of former AICM legend, Geoff Walden.
Back to back Primary school rockers, North Arm Rock Band, certainly give off a School of Rock Vibe, with their energetic and catchy rock tunes.
The final two open bands are sure to bring the show to a climactic hard rocking finish.
Sunny coast foursome, Blank Slate show a solid base of musicianship with a layer of hard hitting harmonies. I can tell that the vibe is set to take off as these guys hit full volume.
Last but certainly not the least in rock is Led Angels. Like a time warp from the late seventies, these three bring an authentic solid rock to the stage. Not to be missed.
Doors open at 2pm and you will want to get ready before the first act hits the stage, as the quality of this competition is amazing.
